Ornate patterns, gold filigree and plush velvet lend old-world opulence to nail tips this fall. “Adding a different texture gave the baroque design a more dramatic look, while the colored stones and charms added richness,” says Yoko Sakakura, a Los Angeles-based celebrity nail artist.

1. Apply gel base coat, then two coats of black gel polish, curing after each.

2. Apply top coat, then place a gold charm at the center of the nail. Cure.
Then, apply a small bead of turquoise art gel to the center of the charm, and cure.

3. Apply no-wipe gel top coat over the entire nail. Do not cure. Use tweezers to apply black velvet flocking powder to the nail. Remove any excess powder with a brush and cure.

1. Apply gel base coat, then two coats of black gel polish, curing after each.

2. Use a detail brush and gold gel polish to paint a swirl design at the base of the nail. Do not remove the tacky layer. Apply gold chrome powder on top of the gold gel polish.

3. Apply beads of clear gel to the design, then place pearls and stones into the clear gel and cure. To finish, apply gel top coat and cure.

1.  Apply gel base coat, then two coats of gold gel polish, curing after each.

2.  Apply no-wipe gel top coat to the nail and cure. Do not remove the tacky layer. Next, apply gold chrome powder to the nail. Remove any excess powder with a brush.

3. Use a striping brush to paint lines of varying thickness down the length of the nail with black gel polish and cure. To finish, apply gel top coat and cure.
